Choosing a tarot deck is personal and intuitive. We all have distinct tastes, abstract or realism, fantasy or collage. We all have symbology we deeply connect with. Here are some steps to help you find the deck that resonates with you:

1. Research: Start by researching different tarot decks online or at your local bookstore. Look for images, themes, and artistic styles that attract you. Read reviews or watch videos to get a sense of the deck's energy and symbolism. Try tarot.com -- when you do a free reading, they have a drop down menu with lots of different decks.

2. Trust your intuition: Trust your instincts and initial reactions when looking at different decks. Pay attention to how the artwork and imagery make you feel. You may feel drawn to a specific deck or find yourself connecting with certain images or themes.

3. Consider your preferences: Think about what type of art or music or novels or settings you are drawn to. Do you prefer traditional or avant-garde, wild or steady, clean or messy? Do you prefer traditional Rider-Waite-Smith-inspired decks, or are you more interested in decks with unique and unconventional and contemporary artwork? Consider whether you want a deck that is beginner-friendly or one that offers a deeper exploration of the tarot. (For taking the Mystic Circle course, I recommend using traditional decks to learn the ropes.)

4. Connect with the cards: If possible, visit a local metaphysical or spiritual store to see and handle different tarot decks in person. Holding the cards and flipping through them can help you establish a connection and determine if they feel right for you.

5. Seek guidance: If you have friends or mentors who are experienced with tarot, seek their advice and recommendations. They may offer insights or suggest decks that align with your interests and energy.

6. Take your time: Choosing a tarot deck is a personal process, so take your time and don't rush the decision. Allow yourself to explore different options and trust that the right deck will find its way to you.

There are no right or wrong choice when it comes to selecting a tarot deck. The most important factor is finding one that resonates with you and allows you to connect with the cards on a deep level.
